We Believe…

…in serving the needs of the entire resident -- body, mind and spirit! The arts provide a means to reach the innermost being of our senior residents. By using various art forms according to a resident's individual needs, we are able to provide opportunities for them to stay connected to previous interests and experience greater wholeness as a person. We never underestimate the value of the body, mind, and spirit connection in living one's life to the fullest!

  Art Therapy
The art therapist provides stimulation and motivation to help self-isolating residents express themselves through various art mediums.

Example of Horticulture Therapy - Asbury Care Center - Charlotte, NC   Horticulture Therapy
We incorporate the basic Horticulture Therapy concepts into regular individual and group activities for residents.

  Music Therapy
Music Therapists work with small groups of residents in activities that improve their physical and mental functioning, while room-bound residents may arrange for one-on-one sessions. Our entire facility enjoys the handbell choir, also organized by a Music Therapist.

  Humor Therapy
We believe in the guiding principles of Humor Therapy and strive to make our nursing home a fun, lively place for our residents. Staff bring laughter (and wholeness) to the residents through planned and spontaneous activities throughout the year. A local clown troupe and Youth Puppet Ministries visit. Staff share jokes, puppets and novelty toys to evoke spontaneous responses from residents to break up the monotony of the daily routine. Old familiar comedies shown on television generate lots of laughter and a sense of shared community. Even the pets get into the act when the birds and cats play together.

Our Life Span

Aldersgate, a continuing care retirement community, opened its door in 1948. In 1980 it opened it’s nursing home, Asbury Care Center.

We Receive Funding From
