Our Goals

The Visual and Performing Arts Committee of the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center dedicates itself to coordinating the arts for the enjoyment of the Medical Center's patients, visitors, and employees.
Through the participation of the community and Medical Center employees, we seek to maintain high aesthetic standards in both visual and performing arts that are sensitive to the audiences' experiences.
We strive to enhance the environment of the Medical Center through strategic location of various visual arts and presentation of the performing arts.

Current Areas of Focus

 Visual Art

Music

Our Programs Include:

Art-o-Mat - Buy art for patients, co-workers, or yourself from these nationally renowned vending machines. You put in $3.00 in quarters, and the patient's nose lights up. Medical Center artists make original pocket size artwork that dispense from a work-of-art vending machine.

Art-o-Mat - Buy art for patients, co-workers, or yourself from these nationally renowned vending machines.

Arts Alive - Performances are sponsored by the Medical Center because the healing process occurs in the mind and spirit as well as the body. They are free and open to everyone, especially our employees, patients, and their families and friends.

Galleries - Five separate galleries exhibit artwork which is for sale and on display for three months. Please see our web site’s Galleries’ Schedule for the names of artists who are exhibiting and the locations of the galleries.

Medical Center Chorale - A mixed choral group of sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses is open without audition to employees & their families, medical students and volunteers who love to sing. Most of the singers do read music, but many have sung in the past or have an excellent "ear" for singing and learn quickly The outstanding choral repertoire soothes the spirit of those who perform it and elevates the spirits of those who hear it.

Special Events throughout the year, we hold special events, including an annual Employee Juried Art Exhibition of two dimensional works in any media. This event is open to artists from the entire Wake Forest University and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center community that encompasses employees, students, faculty, retired employees, volunteers and affiliates.
